Bilateral talks between PM Modi, Nawaz Sharif begins in Russia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shook hands warmly with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif as they sat down for bilateral talks here on Friday.

The bilateral talks on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit come more than a year after they held talks on May 26 in New Delhi.

The talks are expected to provide forward movement to bilateral ties between two neighbouring nation.

Before this, the two leaders had met on Thursday night met at a dinner hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

PTI reported that both leaders exchanged pleasantries and chatted briefly when they came face-to-face at a dinner hosted for leaders of five BRICS countries and 10 SCO nations in Ufo.

Modi and Sharif were last together in Kathmandu in November last for the SAARC Summit but they did not have a bilateral meeting because of acrimony between the two countries at that time.
